General
What is Mizan?
Mizan is MYDT’s platform for tournament registration, judging, ballots, results, and rankings.
Do I need an account?
You need an account to register or join a team, apply as a judge, and access private tournament tools.
Who should I contact for help?
Contact the tournament organizer or tabulation team and include your name, tournament, and team or judge role.
Teams & Registration
How do I register or join a team?
First, go to Login. You can sign in with your Google/Gmail account, or create an account with your email and a password.
To register a new team:
- Open Team Registration.
- Find the section called Register a team.
- Choose your tournament.
- Enter your team name, your name, your school, and your school level.
- Click Create team.
- Tell your teammates the team name so they can join it.
To join a team someone already created:
- Open Team Registration.
- Scroll down to Join an existing team.
- Choose your team from the list.
- Enter your name, email, and phone number.
- Choose whether you are a debater or an alternate.
- Click Join team.
How many students can be on a team?
A team can have up to three debaters and one alternate.
How do I pay the registration fee?
Use the Pay Registration Fee button on the team registration page. Payment is processed separately through PayPal.
Judging
How do I apply to judge?
First, go to Login. You can sign in with your Google/Gmail account, or create an account with your email and a password.
To register as a judge:
- Open Judge Registration.
- Choose the tournament you want to judge.
- Enter your name, email, and phone number.
- Choose your training status.
- Select every judging shift you can attend.
- Choose your team affiliation, if you have one.
- Select any teams you should not judge because of a conflict of interest.
- Add any optional availability notes.
- Click Submit judge registration.
Wait for approval:
After you submit the form, an admin must approve your application. You will not see judge assignments or ballots until you are approved. Once approved, sign in and open the Judge Dashboard.
Does applying automatically approve me as a judge?
No. Tournament administrators review judge applications before granting access to assignments and ballots.
Tournament Information
Where can I find matchups, rooms, and results?
Participants can find published tournament information on the Team Dashboard. Judges can find assignments on the Judge Dashboard.
When are rankings updated?
Rankings update as ballots are verified and rounds are tabulated.
